The Société de transport de Laval (STL) welcomes today’s ruling by the Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT) (PDF), which has found that there was indeed concerted action by union members to engage in illegal pressure tactics. Since the beginning of last week, such tactics have resulted in service disruptions leading to the cancellation of close to 1,000 trips and affecting over 15,000 riders.
In its ruling, the TAT ordered the union to comply right away and take all measures necessary to ensure that its members stopped using illegal pressure tactics effective immediately. Consequently, the STL expects that things will go back to normal promptly for its customers.
The Tribunal also instructed the union to “immediately and publicly announce its intention to obey the orders made in this ruling.”
Once again, the STL regrets that its customers had to pay the price for this illegal concerted action. The next round of mediated talks is scheduled for April 27.
