The future of transportation lies in electric vehicles. With the aim of reducing GHG emissions and improving the quality of life of citizens, the STL is gradually converting its fleet of vehicles to electric vehicles and fitting up its infrastructures.
In 2020, the STL started planning to expand its transportation centre. This project, estimated at over $235 million, is the largest of the STL’s history. Some 19,000 m2 of space would be added to the current facilities, i.e., the space needed to accommodate an additional 145 fully electric buses. The new 20 MW electrical entrance to be installed is equivalent to four times the power used to operate the Bell Centre. Bathed in natural lighting, this new work space will be an invigorating environment that will instill pride and showcase the talent and values of the STL and its workers.
