Domestic Violence
The STL is partnering with the Association lavalloise pour le transport adapté (ALTA) to support Laval residents with disabilities who are victims of domestic violence.
In Laval, any woman with functional limitations experiencing domestic violence can contact SOS Violence Conjugale to access free transportation to a shelter for women victims of domestic violence located in Laval.
This service is reserved for Laval residents.
How to get help
Call SOS Violence Conjugale at 1-800-363-9010 (24/7). You will be connected with the nearest shelter for women experiencing domestic violence. Be sure to mention that you have functional limitations and require paratransit to travel to a shelter in Laval.
A staff member from the shelter will contact the STL directly to book your paratransit. They will handle all follow‑up related to your trip with our Reservation Centre. If your trip needs to be modified, the shelter staff member will contact the Reservation Centre on your behalf.
- A vehicle will be dispatched to pick you up at the scheduled time. Please allow 2 business hours from the time of your call. No transit pass will be required on board: this emergency service is free of charge. This service applies only to shelters located within the Laval area.
Trip operating hours
Trip hours are the same as those of our regular paratransit service:
Sunday to Thursday: 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Friday and Saturday: 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
In case of a crisis or emergency situation
The driver cannot be called to attend an emergency, violent or crisis situation. In such cases, the shelter and the Laval Police Service will intervene.
If the driver arrives at your location and observes a situation involving crisis or violence, they are authorized to leave immediately and report the situation to the police and to our Reservation Centre.
Paratransit admission
This emergency transportation agreement between the STL and the ALTA is intended to support women who are victims of domestic violence and have disabilities, whether or not they are officially registered for STL paratransit service.
No proof of admission, valid transit pass, or OPUS card will be required for trips to Laval shelters for women victims of domestic violence.
Use of this one‑time service does not grant official admission to STL paratransit.
