Fares and OPUS card

Current paratransit fares

Paratransit fares are set by the Autorité régionale du transport métropolitain (ARTM).

Fares vary based on several factors

  • The fare zones in which you travel

  • The types of fare products available (e.g., single fares or monthly passes)

  • Your age or status (e.g., 11 and under, full-time student, 65 and over)

Children 11 and under: Free paratransit service at all times and everywhere, when accompanied by a person aged 14 or over who holds a valid fare product.

Laval residents aged 65 and over: Free paratransit service within Laval only, with the Horizon 65+ pass.

To find the fare that best suit your needs, you can use the ARTM Fare Selector.

Horizon 65+ fare

The Horizon 65+ pass is valid only within Laval.

Fare payment required

Important

Anyone using paratransit services must have a valid transit pass or fare for their travel zones.

In accordance with current regulations, you must pay your fare each time you board. Otherwise, your trips will be billed.

If you fail to pay your fare, you may be subject to a fine, as outlined in the regulation governing the possession and use of transit fares.

Payment options

Fares vary depending on the zones in which you travel. Click on each option to learn more about how you can pay for your trips.

Paying with cash

Fare only

You must have the exact fare. Drivers do not give change.

Paying with a debit or credit card

Important notice

Payment by credit or debit card is accepted on all paratransit vehicles serving STL customers. Eligible customers may pay their fare using Visa, Mastercard or Interac debit.

Please note that paying per trip with cash, credit or debit is more cost‑effective than using a paper ticket.

IMPORTANT: If contactless payment does not work, you must be able to insert your card into the payment terminal and enter your PIN to complete the transaction and pay your fare.

Paratransit paper tickets

Terms and conditions

These tickets are valid only on the paratransit network.

They are available at metropolitan ticket offices and at most sales outlets as single fares at regular or reduced rates (upon presentation of a photo OPUS card).

What do the ticket colours mean?

The colour on the ticket depends on the zone and fare type (regular or reduced). The colour may vary depending on the type of fare you need.

  • Black: Regular fares valid in Zones A and B
  • Blue: Reduced fares valid in Zones A and B
  • Green: Regular fares valid in Zones B, C and D
  • Red: Reduced fares valid in Zones B, C and D

Monthly pass on an OPUS card

OPUS only

Please note that for paratransit service, the OPUS card is accepted only if it holds a monthly pass.

A monthly pass is valid from the first to the last day of the month.

At sales outlets and via the Chrono app (mobile reload): Available from the 20th of the preceding month until the 15th of the month for which it is valid.

At metropolitan ticket offices: Available up to three months in advance and until the 15th of the month for which it is valid.

To ensure your monthly pass is valid, make sure to load it onto your OPUS card at least three days before the start of the month.

It is important to provide your OPUS card number. You can find it on the back of your card. If your OPUS card number changes, please call us at 450‑688‑6520 to let us know.

Virtual subscription

Monthly

If you use paratransit exclusively and travel regularly, a virtual monthly subscription is the best option for you.

With a virtual subscription, you can travel without ever having to present a fare. Simply pay your monthly subscription by mailing a cheque to the STL.

Once we have received your cheque, we will notify drivers that your trips have been paid for the entire month. Always carry your eligibility card with you in case identification is required.

Please mail your cheque early enough to ensure your subscription is activated before the first day of the month.

You can also mail us a series of cheques to pay for multiple months. In that case, each cheque must be dated the first day of each subscription month. If you later wish to cancel one of the monthly subscriptions, we will return the cheque for that month to you.

Remember that fares are adjusted on July 1 each year. When writing your cheques, please make sure the amounts reflect the applicable fare for the period.
