Exemption from assistance at destination
Exemption from assistance at destination
For any customer with an intellectual disability, mental health condition, or other specific condition, the STL is required to include an assistance at destination condition in their file.
This is a safety measure requiring that a responsible person be present to receive the customer upon arrival at their destination.
If the customer has a level of independence that allows them to be left on their own at all times, they may request an exemption from this requirement.
To do so, complete and include with your application the Attestation of autonomy and authorization for a paratransit user to be left alone on arrival form.

Application review and response time
Each application is reviewed by a three‑member committee, including:
- A representative from the Société de transport de Laval (the delegated administrative officer)
- A representative of the person with a disability
- A representative from the health and social services network
If your application is deemed complete by the delegated administrative officer, you will receive a response within 45 days of its receipt. All decisions are made unanimously by the committee members.
Request for review
If you disagree with the committee’s decision, you may, under certain conditions, exercise your right to appeal to the review office.
As provided for in the eligibility policy of the Ministère des Transports, you must inform the admission committee. The committee may then adjust, if applicable, the type of admission or level of assistance based on your new situation.
