Taking the metro in Laval 

Laval has three metro stations: Cartier Terminal, De La Concorde intermodal station, and Montmorency Terminal. These stations are on Line 2 – Orange. 

To take the metro in Laval, an All Modes AB, ABC or ABCD fare is required. 

Taking the train in Laval 

Laval has three commuter train stations: Vimont station, De La Concorde intermodal station, and Sainte‑Rose station. These stations are on the exo2 – Saint‑Jérôme line.

Taking the REM in Laval 

Laval has two REM stations: Île‑Bigras station and Sainte‑Dorothée station.

Carpooling and car sharing

Carpooling 

Reserved spaces are available in park-and-ride lots to make it easier to combine carpooling with public transit. 

Conditions of use: 

  • A minimum of 2 passengers aged 16 or older per vehicle 
  • No reservation required (first come, first served) 
  • No registration required 

Communauto

Laval has Communauto stations that let you rent cars at an affordable price. 

Discounts 

With an OPUS+ subscription or OPUS+ Corporate subscription, you can get special rates with Communauto. 

Choose between the OPUS+ DUO Economical plan and the OPUS+ DUO Freedom plan to save on membership or subscription fees and enjoy reduced rates when you need a car. 

Cyclobus: combine cycling and bus travel 

Bike racks are installed on the front of most STL buses. If the weather changes or you want to extend your trip, you can place your bike on the rack and continue your journey. 

 

IMPORTANT Only non-motorized two-wheel bicycles are allowed. Children’s bikes, tandems, unicycles, fat bikes and electric bikes are not permitted.

Bike Rack Conditions of Use 

When to use bike racks 

Bike racks are available from April 15 to November 14. For safety reasons, they can only be used in Laval between sunrise and sunset. 

Bike racks are not available after dark, as bikes may block the bus headlights. 

How to load your bike on the rack 

  • While at the stop, let the bus driver know you plan to use the bike rack 
  • If someone is unloading their bike, wait before placing yours 
  • If the rack is folded up, pull the latch to lower it 
  • Place your bike in the slot closest to the bus 
  • Secure your bike by pulling the support arm as high as possible over the wheel 
  • Board the bus and validate your fare 

How to remove your bike from the rack 

  • Before reaching your stop, inform the bus driver that you will be retrieving your bike 
  • Return the support arm to the horizontal position 
  • Remove your bike from the rack 
  • If the rack is empty and no one else is waiting, fold it up until it locks 
  • Move away from the bus and signal the driver when it is safe to leave 

Bike rack rules 

  • Ages 14 and over (or accompanied by an adult) 
  • Maximum of 2 bikes per rack 
  • Bikes must not have accessories (basket, bag, child seat, etc.) 
  • Only non-motorized two-wheel bicycles are allowed  
  • Children’s bikes, tandems, unicycles, fat bikes and electric bikes are not permitted 
  • Bus drivers are not allowed to leave their seat to assist you 
  • Bikes are not allowed inside buses, except for folding bikes 
  • Locking your bike to the rack is not permitted 
  • STL staff may deny access to the rack if rules are not followed or if conditions are unsafe 
  • The STL is not responsible for damage, loss or theft related to bike rack use

Shared e-scooters in Laval 

Did you know? You can rent shared electric scooters in Laval. 

This service is offered through a pilot project led by the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTMD), in collaboration with the City of Laval. 

IMPORTANT If you plan to use shared e-scooters, be sure to follow the rules established by the City. For everyone’s safety, stay within permitted areas and use caution near buses. Please note that speed is limited, and riding is restricted in certain areas of our terminals.

Riding with equipment on board

Combining bus travel with an active mode of transportation? You can bring your equipment on board, provided you follow these guidelines: 

  • Only foldable equipment (e.g. folding bikes and scooters) is allowed on board, and must remain fully folded at all times 
  • Items brought on board must not block aisles, inconvenience other passengers, or compromise safety. Keep your item close to you, between your legs or under a seat.
  • Standard bicycles must be placed on the rack at the front of the bus. Electric bikes and fat bikes are not permitted on racks. See the Cyclobus section above for more details
  • Electric or gas-powered equipment (e.g. electric or gas-powered scooters) is strictly prohibited on board.
  • Motorized mobility aids (such as wheelchairs, mobility scooters, etc.) are allowed on board, provided they meet the permitted size requirements.
  • In all other cases, it is not permitted to bring a bicycle, electric bicycle, unicycle, electric unicycle, tricycle, electric tricycle, scooter, electric scooter, Segway, electric skateboard, or any similar device on board the bus.
