OPUS CARD DEDICATED
TO ALL MODES AB, ABC, AND ABCD FARES

OPUS cards have technical limitations that prevent them from holding All Modes AB, ABC, and ABCD fares in addition to single Bus tickets and monthly Bus passes. However, if you have a valid regular or photo ID OPUS card, you can get a second card free of charge for your All Modes AB, ABC, and ABCD fares.

DO I NEED A SECOND OPUS CARD?

The dedicated OPUS card is right for you if you regularly use the STL bus system and occasionally take the metro, train or REM to travel outside Laval.

Here’s a common situation:

You have a Bus pass or Bus tickets and you mostly ride the bus to get around Laval, but you also take the metro for occasional trips to Montreal. Since OPUS cards cannot hold 1-, 2- or 10-trip single tickets and time-based zone AB fares (e.g., unlimited passes) as well as Bus tickets, you’ve got two options: you can either get a dedicated OPUS card or load fares on an Occasionnelle card (a stiff paper card with an embedded chip).

Reduced fares

The photo ID OPUS card cannot be used to load All Modes AB 1-, 2- and 10-trip reduced fares. If you want to benefit from the reduced fare, head to a metropolitan ticket office to get a dedicated photo ID OPUS card.

Note: As the cardholder, you must go to the metropolitan office in person to have your photo taken because the system prevents us from reusing the photo on your photo ID OPUS card.

Travelling around zones ABC and ABCD

If you occasionally travel to Montreal’s North Shore, in zones C or D, you a dedicated OPUS card may be convenient. All Modes ABC and ABCD fares are valid for trips to Montreal’s North and South Shores and can be loaded on the same card. All Modes ABC and ABCD monthly passes can be loaded on either a regular or photo ID OPUS card.
