End of the smog alert - Back to the regular fare of $3,50 as of June 8 - STLaval.ca/smog-alert
From June 1st to Labor Day, the STL monitors air quality. When a smog warning is given to us by Environment Canada in the late afternoon, we activate our smog alert process to help reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs).
If the air quality is going to be bad, the special rate of $ 1 is then applied the following day to the entire regular network of STL buses.
The purpose of this initiative is to encourage Laval residents to take public transportation, rather than a car, in order to give the environment a break and thus help improve air quality.
Why the next day and not the same day? Because we require preparation time, in order to notify our staff and adjust our payment terminals on board vehicles.
During the summer, watch our smog alerts on our various customer information tools.
Just deposit $ 1 in cash or by credit card when boarding.
If you have a monthly ticket on your Opus card, your regular ticket will be validated and it will cost you nothing more.
Please note: Do not use your Opus card if it contains single passes, since one of them will be debited from your Opus and you will not benefit from the reduced rate of $ 1. In this case, it is more advantageous to pay $ 1 by depositing cash in the collection box or by typing your credit card on the payment terminal.
