Rates and Opus card


Dear paratransit users,

If you received a letter about the Fare Reform, there are no action required from you. It was simply a letter to inform you of some changes that will be put in place by the Autorité régionale du transport métropolitain (ARTM) as of July 1st regarding rates.

Current fares for paratransit service

Paratransit service fares are the same as those for regular service. For example:

  • The cash fare is the same as a regular single fare.
  • A set of 8 paper tickets costs the same as 8 regular fares.
  • The monthly pass is the same for users of regular and paratransit services.
  • The virtual pass can be purchased at the current regular monthly rate.
  • Effective as of July 1st, 2021 - Free ride for children aged 11 or under when accompanied by someone aged 14 years old or more This person must hold a valid ticket (see the accepted payment methods below) and accompagny not more than 5 kids.

Single rate for trips within Laval and double rate for metropolitain trips.

Accepted payment methods for single trips:

  • 1 x cash fare
  • 1 x paper paratransit ticket
  • STL or TRAM Zone 3 monthly pass on an Opus card
  • Virtual pass



Accepted payment methods for single trips:

  • 2 x cash fare
  • 2 x paper paratransit tickets
  • STL monthly pass on an Opus card + 1 ticket or 1 cash fare
  • Monthly regional pass on an Opus card (depending on fare zone)
  • Virtual pass paid by cheque

Accepted payment methods for trips involving a transfer to another transit network:

  • 1 x STL fare (paper ticket, cash fare or STL monthly pass) + 1 x fare of the other transport provider (or regional pass, depending on the fare zone)

Payment methods

Payment methods depend on which territories you have to transit.

Only valid on the paratransit network. Available at Metropolitan ticket offices and most points of sale in sets of 8 tickets (regular or reduced fare).



You must pay the exact fare, as drivers do not give change.



Valid from the first day of the month to the last day of the month. Can be purchased at regular points of sale from the 20th of the previous month to the 15th of the current month or up to 3 months in advance from Metropolitan ticket offices. To ensure that all the systems and your driver have up-to-date information, your monthly pass must be loaded onto your Opus card at least 3 days before the beginning of the month.

Important: Notify us of your Opus card number (displayed on the back of your card) and inform us of any changes by calling 450-688-6520.

If you use paratransit service only and travel regularly, the monthly virtual pass is the best option for you.

With a virtual pass, you can travel without ever having to present a ticket. To pay for your monthly virtual pass, simply send a cheque by mail to the STL. Once we receive your payment, we’ll notify the drivers that your fare has been paid for the month.

Make sure to mail your cheque in advance so we receive it before the first day of the month. Otherwise, you may be unable to use your pass from the beginning of the month.

If you wish, you can also send us a series of post-dated cheques to pay for multiple months. Ensure each cheque is dated the first day of each month. If you decide later to cancel one or more pending monthly payments, we will return your cheques to you.

Don't forget that the fares usually change every July 1st. Make sure to have the right amount in mind when you write your cheques for further months.

How to register for paratransit virtual monthly pass

  1. Prepare a cheque dated the first day of the month for which you wish to register.
  2. Enter the amount corresponding to the current cost of an STL or TRAM monthly pass, whichever applies to you.
  3. Make the cheque payable to Société de transport de Laval.
  4. Indicate your name, file number and full address on the front of the cheque.
  5. Mail the cheque in advance to:

In accordance with current regulations, you must show proof of payment each time you board. Failure to do so carries financial consequences. If you are unable to provide proof of payment, you may be fined as set out in ARTM Regulation CA-14 (PDF - French only).


Protect your Opus card and recover lost fares in the event of damage, loss or theft. Follow these steps:

  1. Save the PDF form on your computer
  2. Print, complete and sign the form
  3. Send it to us by on of the following options:
