How to save the planet with $1

More and more natural disasters in the news are mainly caused by climate change. It’s obvious that we must do our part to save the planet.

Changing your habits to reduce your ecological footprint is not always so easy. With our $1 Ride Day planned for Friday, September 17, you can do it without much effort.

All you need is a loonie to take the bus in Laval on $1 Ride Day. It will just be like our smog alerts on summer days with bad air quality when we need to reduce our GHG emissions at all costs.

And since it’s $1 Ride Day and also a special day, we will make your dollar go even further.

More bang for the buck

Whether you pay by credit card, in quarters or with a loonie, your $1 results in a second good deed:  planting trees in Laval. The cash equivalent of every additional trip on our network that day will be used to plant trees.

The last time we held a $1 Ride Day, we collected $5,000 that went to Laval’s PlantAction, whose mission is to green up the neighbourhoods in our beautiful city.

It’s worth getting on board!

Count me in, but how does it work?

It couldn’t be easier.

Plan your trip using our Trip Planner, Google Maps or some other app. It makes no difference, whatever is easiest for you.

Don’t forget to wear your mask and be at your stop five minutes before the scheduled bus time. Every one of our 2,700 bus stops is identified by a seven-digit number. Note down that number as it could be useful.

Here’s a tip to make things even easier: Text your bus stop number to 511785 to get the bus schedule in real time.

Put your mask on before getting on the bus, and pay your fare by dropping a $1 coin or four 25¢ coins (but not 100 pennies) in the fare collection box or by tapping your credit card on the terminal (available on some routes only. We are working to expand credit card payment to all our buses. Keep an eye out!).

Lastly, be sure to commend yourself for doing more for the environment while you avoid traffic by taking a comfortable bus ride.

Every action counts when it comes to saving the planet.
