With the new school year just around the corner, it’s time for high school, CEGEP and university students to renew their OPUS cards with photo ID. Whether you renew yours online or at a ticket office, here are some tips to help you avoid any hassle.
Don’t wait until the last minute. Even if your card expires on October 31, you can renew it as early as August 1.
Make sure you have your ID and documentation proving your full-time student status. Check if your parents have to sign the form and if you need a certificate from your school. Find out what pieces of ID are accepted. Go to STLaval.ca/student to learn more.
Once you know what you need to do:
That’s it! Head to a ticket office to have your card issued. If looks are important to you, do your hair before you go because you won’t be allowed to wear a hat or a cap for the photo. Once you’re there, follow the staff’s instructions carefully. You’ll get the same great service no matter where you go, but we’ll let you in on a secret: the lines are always shorter at the Cartier ticket office.
Now that you have your card, you can buy transit tickets or monthly passes. Did you know that next month’s passes go on sale at ticket offices and all our 40 points of sale in Laval on the 20th of the current month? Something to keep in mind if you want to make sure you always have your pass on the 1st of the month.
